This isn't about tossing away our phones. Far from it. For our electronic devices are amazing. But that’s the problem, they’re too amazing. We can’t take our eyes off of our screens. We now, on average, spend 2 hours and 51 minutes per day looking at our phones. Over the course of one year this equates to 43 days, almost a month and a half, primarily surrendered to distraction. The internet rewires our brain so that it craves digital distraction, resulting in a lack of mental stamina to focus, and feeling constantly compelled to jump online and chase the usual diversion-culprits: email, social media, news and sports headlines.
In this webinar, targeted for HR professionals, attendees will:
- Learn about the financial interest of websites, social media platforms, video games and streaming services to keep people on their screens
- Understand how their employees' ever-increasing screen time is affecting them, both mentally and physically
- Understand how their employees' screen obsessions are stealing time at the expense of their job
- Learn techniques to help their employees curb the compulsions to check their screens, ultimately making them more productive in their jobs
Jeff’s presentation details his own struggles with screen distractions, in a manner that is both informative and entertaining, with the ultimate intent of raising awareness to how intrusive our electronic devices have become to the alarming extent that instead of us controlling them, they are now controlling us. Jeff uses his 20+ years as a nationally touring stand-up comedian to deliver an impactful, motivating and entertaining presentation that helps us understand what we're up against in rescuing our employees' attentions (and our own!) from their screens, allowing us all to increase our productivity.
